Wake Me Up When September Ends…

It’s the beginning of fall, aka pumpkin spice season, and I welcome it with open arms! However, I’m about to get pretty serious here as I reflect this past September. I wanted to write more in this blog but life had other plans and priorities. The dates are pretty fuzzy but I’ll recollect as best as I can. A few weeks ago, I set my alarm for 8am, which is already unusual (as I’m really a vampire and am allergic to the sunrise). I planned on going to a police officer’s funeral and then going to work after – but when I went to check my phone, I saw multiple texts from my boss. Her daughter was texting on her phone, telling me they had to take mom to the ER and she was having emergency surgery. Out of respect for my boss and family, I won’t get into details…

The “No Social Media” Challenge – Monterey Bay

I decided to start a category on my blog called the “No Social Media Challenge”. Basically, I’ll be posting about trips and such that I took while disconnecting from social media. I think all too often, we all can get caught up easily on Facebook, Instagram, etc., even when we need to relax a bit. It’s so easy to get sucked into the uneccessary drama of it all. Of course, that doesn’t mean I am completely without my phone – how else will I snap photos and videos? 😀 But even then, it’s so nice to be able to go somewhere and just not be on social media, even for a little bit. So, we’ll kick off this category with my 30th birthday trip to one of my favorite places in the whole world!   My best friend, Jenny and I left for San Jose on a Friday night (8/4/2017).…

25 Things About Me.

I was born and raised in California. My dad immigrated here from Croatia and my mom’s grandparents did as well, so all of my family roots can be traced back to that region. I don’t drink alcohol at all – I’ve had it before, but just never really enjoyed it (unless it’s a shot or two of slivovitz on Christmas Day but that’s a different story). I enjoy all kinds of music but my favorite is and always will be trance! I listen to it in the car, during my workouts, when I’m in the office…I need it like I need my morning coffee! My mornings usually start around noon time. What most people consider evenings, I consider mid-afternoon. I was born a night-owl and working night shifts in all my jobs just solidified that. I’m pretty much allergic to the sunrise and if there’s one thing I’ll never understand,…

The First Post.

This is the first post of my new blog. I am not really sure how exactly I should start it – but one thing I can do is at least introduce myself. My real name is Andrijana but a lot of my friends call me Adrie or A for short. I just turned 30-years-old this month – eeek! I am a children’s author and I have my own book series called “Fowl on The Prowl” – it features Sgt. Ducky, a police officer rubber ducky that teaches kids about law enforcement and safety. I am also writing my first novel under a pseudonym.I love to write, whether its a book, typing a blog post, or in a journal. So I figured that I would start a personal blog. I see tons of blogs that are more businesses and brands, or have some sort of “niche”. I don’t really think I…
